In case you haven’t noticed, there’s been an incredible explosion in the number of running events over the past few years, not just in the U.S., but across the globe. The growth includes more local 5K and 10K races, a wider variety of venues and “runcation” events, as well as an undeniable surge in trail races. Running (or cycling, swimming, triathlon...) events offer a great excuse to travel somewhere new or revisit a favorite vacation getaway. On the other hand, participating at a local level provides much-needed connection and camaraderie within your community. Opportunities for adventure within urban or wild places, near and far, abound, and your people are waiting for you to join. So get out there, toe the line, say hello to the bib next to you, and see where it takes you!
